Question Help me choose: AMD mobo with 128+ GB RAM support, for 3D modeling / rendering

Currently using an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 4.2 GHz on an ASRock X670E PRO motherboard. Not 100% happy with it - 1.) VERY long POST process on bootup (2 red LEDs light up for like 3 minutes, then it boots fine; tried various troubleshooting, didn't have any effect), and 2.) It doesn't support more...

Question Help me choose: high-end GPU for 3D modeling and rendering

Looking to upgrade my current system - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D 4.2 GHz, 64 GB DDR5 SDRAM, AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT w/12 GB VRAM. I'm modeling in Sketchup and rendering in Twinmotion; considering a switch to 3D Studio Max and D5 / V-Ray, but there's a learning curve and I'm overloaded with work so it's...

Discussion What's your favourite video game you've been playing?

Dead by Daylight. An absolute sleeper hit. You play either a supernatural Killer trying to stop a team of 4 Survivors from completing objectives and escaping - or one of the Survivors trying to avoid the Killer, complete the objectives, and escape. The neat thing is that there's NO in-game chat...

Question Best solution to display system info (temperature, fan speed, RAM utilization, etc) on external USB-C / Mini-HDMI monitor?

Thank you for the pointer, I checked it out and it looks good! Nothing is too overwhelming, I like having data @ my disposal. So how does that work? HWinfo reads the data from the sensors on the motherboard, etc, and then sends it out in a graphical format to the 2nd screen (connected to the...

Question Best solution to display system info (temperature, fan speed, RAM utilization, etc) on external USB-C / Mini-HDMI monitor?

I have a KYY 15.6" secondary monitor, which I'd like to use for displaying system info from a new custom PC build. What would you recommend as the solution for gathering & displaying this info? The monitor has mini-HDMI and USB-C inputs. Between MSI Afterburner, RivaPro, AIDA64, and 100 other...

    Question Build advice / parts list - 3D graphics workstation (Sketchup/AutoCAD/Revit/Corel) - $ 2,500-3,000 budget

Any particular reason? On-motherboard RAID, like 2 drives striped & then the pair mirrored for reliability? Or 4 drives striped?

....and the same build but based on a Ryzen 9 7950 X3D, because IDK, something about the 3D V-Cache is hitting a geek nerve. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WkCwVW

    Question Build advice / parts list - 3D graphics workstation (Sketchup/AutoCAD/Revit/Corel) - $ 2,500-3,000 budget

You're right, it may be worth it to scale down the CPU and max out the video card. While exploring the 20-24 GB area, I came across the Radeon RX 7900 XFX, which apparently has a much better benchmark than the RTX A4500. Of course, we all know how reliable benchmarks are... but still...

    Question Build advice / parts list - 3D graphics workstation (Sketchup/AutoCAD/Revit/Corel) - $ 2,500-3,000 budget

Hi, everyone. Forum noob here, looking for advice. Here’s my deal: I used to be involved in hardware, and know how to put a system together, but my knowledge is ~4 years out of date, and now that I need to put together a workstation, I’m overwhelmed AF with the options. I need it for my design...
