You mean unscrew the standoffs that don't fit, and just screw them to the motherboard and not having them being screwed to the case? Is that what you mean?

CPU still has thermal paste residues on it's sides, it's hard to clean as they are very sticky. But the top is pretty clean now, is it okay to proceed to apply a new thermal paste on it, and plug the CPU fan? Should I make it 100% clear?
