[SOLVED] Upgrade to 3600 or keep 2700x

The CPU is really only one factor. Memory, GPU, disk all factor in too. Having said that, you're choosing between two rockstar processors which, ultimately, aren't that different. It's a good problem to have! If streaming can use those extra threads, put the 2700X in your friend's machine.

[SOLVED] Why does DisplayPort to HDMI only work one way?

Thank you! That article was extremely enlightening and exactly what I needed. I was under the impression that digital was digital and I could convert anything. It is way more complicated than I realized.

[SOLVED] Why does DisplayPort to HDMI only work one way?

I have connected my (GTX970) graphics card's HDMI port to my (DELL U2412M) monitor's DisplayPort connection using a DisplayPort to HDMI cable. It doesn't work (monitor not recognized, no video signal). I see from many posts on the internet that this is common, but no one seems to be able to...

[SOLVED] Do i need a cooler for my amd build?

You didn't mention your case and case-fan configuration. No cooler is going to be any good if the inside of your case is too hot.

[SOLVED] New computer with bad CPU cooler installation causing very high temps!

I rely on CoreTemp and HWiNFO64 for monitoring temperatures. CoreTemp is particularly useful because you can configure it to constantly show a number in your Windows system tray. I don't think the small mark that you made in the original thermal paste would have made much of a difference. It...

[SOLVED] Brand new computer has 90 degree CPU when booting up for the first time

I trust CoreTemp and HWiNFO64 to give me the right temperatures. Which Ryzen CPU is it, and what is the motherboard model?

Need a new computer for programing

Strictly speaking, the requirements for android development are quite minimal. The trouble you're having now is that that laptop is so old that it probably barely run Windows. I haven't read anything that says you need a discrete GPU, but you did make an innocuous comment above "I'd like to...

Wifi very slow all of a sudden

I would try the following: 1. check for a firmware upgrade on the router 2. check the network traffic to see if someone else is stealing your wifi bandwidth 3. reset to factory defaults and reconfigure it from the the ground up

Pc shut down randomly, now is dead aside from a single click in psu

Easiest thing to do is swap in another power supply. If you (or a friend) don't happen to have a spare, then there are other ways to test your PSU. There are a number of different testers available on amazon. And lots of youtube videos. There is even this one...

My newly built computer is underperforming.

One more question.... the games where you are observing poor performance; are they all games with heavy online elements? Could it be your internet connection that is slowing things down?

My newly built computer is underperforming.

I keep coming back to a setting in the GPU as the possible culprit. You mentioned that your monitors don't support Freesync, which is fine; but is Freesync disabled on the GPU? I have read that having it turned on can create an artificial throttle on your gaming performance. Also, have you...

My newly built computer is underperforming.

This is what I would do next: While gaming, use the performance tab of the Task Manager to understand the utilization of your CPU and RAM. In order to understand the utilization of your GPU, you may need to download an XFX utility for your specific card. You're looking for the thing that is...

Newly Build PC switching off when playing games.

That's a broad range for idle. My CPU for example, is rock solid at 26 degrees under idle or light load (GPU is 42). Assuming stable drivers and software, I would focus on temperatures and power delivery. Make sure that your temperature readings are actuals, rather than "above ambient". It...

Newly Build PC switching off when playing games.

Are all of the drivers up to date? Motherboard? GPU? BIOS? Is your machine stable at idle? What temperatures do you see when your machine is at idle?
