My newly built computer is underperforming.

Alright, so a about a month ago, I built my computer, and was super excited. I got all the drivers, did all the updates, and so on and so fourth. So I went ahead and got some games, played them in awe, just because of how used i was to playing everything with about 15-30 frames at all time. But since i've had time to actually enjoy my computer, i've noticed that i am not getting the amount of frames i should be getting with the hardware i have.

On Fortnite, i can get about 40-60 frames at about medium to high settings.
On Doom, i get around the same at high.
Even on Dishonored i get up to 50 or so.

But on physics games are when i notice it the most. Games like Totally Accurate Battlegrounds, Ravenfield and games of that manner.

I will get 40 max, even on the lower settings, which makes me puzzled, because there is no bottlenecking that is happening (that i can see at least).

My first thought was it could be thermal related (which is still a massive possibility). Because i'm using the stock Wraith cooler that comes with most Ryzens.. I just wanted a second opinion really, but it could always be something else.

i've searched around on here and not really found anything that would help my case. So anyone who has any idea what might be going on, is welcomed. Feel free to ask any questions about the scenario.
Thanks, Nicholas.

PC Specs:

CPU, Ryzen 1600
Graphics, XFX RX-580 (8gb)
Mobo, MSI X370 Sli-Plus
PSU, Thermaltake Smart 700W
Storage, Booting on a 120gb Sandisk SSD, and mass storage on a Seagate barracuda 1tb.
Dual monitors running at 1600x900.
Windows 10

make sure the mb has the newest bios file. amd and vendor have dropped newer bios to update agise file on mb. go to amd web page download the newest chipset driver for the x370 chipset. if windows was wipped clean then there wont be any older drivers causing issues. the only other issue can be power. the power supply you have is olk but no a great unit. see if a friend or someone has a test power supply.

Sorry for the late response.. Life crazy.

But, I already had the correct drivers, but i reinstalled them. But now i'm working towards testing my rig with my brothers psu sometime shortly.

Thanks for the input!

Nicholas

Alright, so i forgot to add that i have 8 gigs of G.Skill Ripjaws V, clocked at 2400mhz.

Temperatures:

No Load
CPU: 30-35°C
GPU: 35-40°C

Under Load (of the games specified)
CPU: 55-60°C
GPU: 50-60°C

No, my monitors don't support Freesync. (Dual HP 2009m's)

Thanks, Nicholas

This is what I would do next:

While gaming, use the performance tab of the Task Manager to understand the utilization of your CPU and RAM.

In order to understand the utilization of your GPU, you may need to download an XFX utility for your specific card.

You're looking for the thing that is running closest to 100%. That could be your bottleneck.

I would also go hunting for youtube videos on "How to find your gaming bottleneck". There are some dudes out there who are way smarter than me!

That's the weird thing, Everything is at about 40% or so. Nothing actually close to 100%.

I keep coming back to a setting in the GPU as the possible culprit. You mentioned that your monitors don't support Freesync, which is fine; but is Freesync disabled on the GPU? I have read that having it turned on can create an artificial throttle on your gaming performance.

Also, have you tried gaming with only one monitor connected to the system?

Crap man, i am bad at this whole responding thing.

For one: Gaming on one monitor doesn't change really anything if anything at all.

And two: Not all of them are online games, like i recently wanted to play Saints Row the Third, and in the city scape i was getting under 30, whilst my brother gets at least 70.

I did some looking at the computer, to make sure everything is getting power and such, and i found that the 24 pin connector will not plug in completely.. So i'm thinking that might be a part of my problem here.
