Will a xeon e7-8870 v2 work in any socket 2011 mobo?

Well, the x79a-gd45 plus is a later gen LGA 2011 board (probably doesn't matter) but the Intel ARK page says that the chip supports the C602J chipset (Which also supports the e5 and e3's that work on normal LGA 2011.) Does this mean that it could work, or is it possible that even though the...

Will a xeon e7-8870 v2 work in any socket 2011 mobo?

I might get a Xeon e7 8870, was wondering if it needs any special motherboard, or will it drop in to any lga 2011 board? I have an MSI x79a-gd45 plus i could use, not sure if will work or if I need a new board just for it. Thanks!

Is buying an Engineering sample a good idea/what are issues with it?

Ok, so it is essentially a "It might be broken or screwed up- no warranty" scenario? That's the case with most used hardware so thats not ... terrible I guess. Other than the condition being somewhat luck of the draw seems as though ES products wouldn't be that bad of a choice... Then again...

Is buying an Engineering sample a good idea/what are issues with it?

As the title states, I'm interested in figuring out whether buying an ES CPU is: 1. Legal (I've seen conflicting answers on this, not entirely sure about whether its even legal to purchase an engineering sample CPU) 2. A good idea (Motherboard support, CPU condition, so on. ) 3. Any other...

Selling old gaming computer. Need pricing help.

I'd say somewhere around the $450 to $500 mark. That is probably what someone would be willing to pay for those parts, used and in good condition. If you really want it gone fast, $350-450 will do that for you. Considering the price of the components, around $500 would be what you would get if...

    CRC Error! Help!

The HDDs seem ok, they pass the tests and whatnot.. BUT they do not have drive letters and when I try to format them/make them usable through the conventional way ( Disk utility) it throws errors everywhere! Not sure what is up with them :( ( also, the drives show up as having 0 bytes of...

    CRC Error! Help!

I had four WD Velociraptor 600 gb HDD's in raid 0 for my mass storage ( youtube videos, so on... probably wasnt the greatest idea to have in raid 0) and one day, the whole array stopped showing up in windows. I took the HDDs out of my machine an test them on my laptop, to no avail. All i get...

GTX 280 in sli not running games!?!?

Well so far I have gotten Empire total war to work, after a re-install... but no luck yet with Crysis, even after a re-install, verification of game cache, different drivers, and switching up physx config. Any other suggestions?
