I used AMD Overdrive and it was always showing about 10 degrees for the Thermal Margin, while gaming.

It's a Gigabyte Radeon R9 270x 2GB OC windforce. I can't find any used ones on amazon or ebay to get an idea of what people are selling it for. I am in Britain so pounds please.

Not much better no, a slight improvement but I think the HWMonitor is just wrong it once said the temp went up to over 190 celcius.

I don't know what thermal headroom is, but I have just cleaned the fan and applied new thermal paste so hopefully it does the trick.
