News Modern web bloat means some entry-level phones can't run simple web pages, and load times are high for PCs — some sites run worse than PUBG

Best solution for web bloat is an ad blocker. Writing clean web code is best done with a text editor using pure html, css, javascript and whatever server backend language that is kept up-to-date. I don't see many doing it this way any more.

News Coal could be in your next CPU -- researchers eye coal as a metal oxide insulator replacement in next-gen 2D transistors

Are there any editors involved in proof-reading these articles before they are posted? It also shouldn't surprise anyone that life-based complex hydrocarbon materials are useful for all kinds of stuff.

News Newer, faster PCIe 5.0 SSDs coming soon — Phison reveals E26 Max14ium and E31T controllers

I'd really love to see MB manufacturers install more x4, x8 and x16 PCI-E expansion slots that can be used to host these NVME drives in vertically. The current trend to try cram more NVME drives in the limited horizontal space available on the motherboard is a waste. Also, most users don't...

News AMD's TPM Hacked: faulTPM Attack Defeats BitLocker and TPM-Based Security

Insider threats are always going to be with us. The fact that this hack required direct physical access with specialized hardware shows how robust the current security is. Not losing any sleep over this particular issue.

News PCIe Card Adds M.2 SSDs You Can Swap Without Opening Your PC

Now if only we could get motherboards with enough PCI-E x4 and x8 ports to take advantage of this. Here's a hint MB makers, reduce the number of USB and SATA ports and give us more PCI-E

News SSDs in Laptops and Desktops Cost Too Damn Much

Any time I buy a pre-canned PC, I buy the absolute lowest amount of RAM and Hard Drive a vendor offers and upgrade the unit myself. Usually "save" between $100 and $200 per unit in doing so, which adds up quickly.

Review Gigabyte B650E Aorus Master Review: A PCIe 5.0 M.2 Party

Why do motherboard makers keep wasting lanes on USB ports? Give us more x4 and x8 PCIe slots and we can expand the NVME solutions via vertical, vice horizontal, expansion options. I'd also like to see a revamp of SATA. Base it on USB 4.0 and make removable, hot swap, hard drives useful again.

News Tom's Hardware Best of 2021 Awards

What good is giving out rewards for products nobody can buy? What a lousy year for PC hardware ... wanted to get excited about it, but once I saw the prices and availability it was clear that we had another full year of excuses instead of results. Hey industry ... let's make 2022 about results.

News Intel Core i5-12600K vs Ryzen 5 5600X and 5800X Face Off: Ryzen Has Fallen

Psssst ... Somebody let Tom's Hardware know that upgrades in CPU performance mean next to nothing while graphics card prices and availability are near "unobtanium" levels ... in fact, it's comical that the availability of silicon for motherboards and CPU's has been virtually unaffected yet GPU...

[SOLVED] AMD Ryzen 2700 on Gigabyte Auros B550M Pro-P Board

Been putting together an AMD Ryzen 5000 series system and I ran into an issue. I was successful in installing the Ryzen 5 5600X processor, booting and installing Windows and my apps. After letting it run over night I turned the system off to work on other things. When I went to turn it back...

News The GPU Sadness Index: Tracking eBay Pricing

This is the most ridiculous GPU situation I've seen in a while. Bought MSI GTX 1650 Supers in March 2020 for $159.99 on Amazon ... it's been nearly 18 months since that time and the vendors still haven't, or don't want to, figure out how to increase supply to get the prices down ... back to to...
