In the unlikely event there’s a problem with the heat sink after reassembling and plugging the GPU back in, is there a way I can get a replacement without buying a new GPU? If I were to contact Asus customer service, could I purchase one directly from them?

I’ve also considered it could be oxidation of the aluminium. Prolonged contact with ipa can cause this, to a certain extent, but it’s harmless.

Should I be concerned that it’s congealing around certain spots and some of it came off during the soak? I followed up with soapy water to rinse off the gunk. Any potential impact on the functioning of the heat sink or am I ok after I let it air dry?

Hi all, I removed the heat sink from my GPU for a thorough clean, soaking it in IPA. After about 15 minutes I noticed little bits of white gunk appeared in the solution. After I dried the heat sink, there’s also a build up around some of the seams on parts of the heat sink. What could this be?
