News AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D vs Intel Core i9-13900K and Core i7-13700K: Big Gaming Punch, Smaller Price Tag

I'm not sure how the 13700K ties 7800X3D in gaming. 14% less performance on average, and slightly less expensive. That's a pretty large delta. Also, everytime the 7800 wins in gaming, there's a caveat that Intel is better at productivity. If we're measuring gaming, let's measure gaming. If we're...

News Inflated GeForce GTX 1630 Pricing Strikes Early US and UK Buyers

I think it's crazy that I bought an RX 560 for $50 that's going into my Plex server, and the performance is comparable to this 1630. This should have been a $79.99 special with 2 GB of VRAM.

News Intel Arc A730M Gaming Benchmarks Show RTX 3050 Mobile-Level Performance

GPUs from Intel feel too little too late. This may be their big splash into dedicated graphics, but it's turning out to be a ripple. Their 2nd tier card is between a 3050 and 3060. Top tier, we'll see. And then driver optimizations seem garbage. Hard to believe big Intel is this far behind...

News Intel Tiger Lake-H Beats AMD Ryzen 4000 in Geekbench 5

This article is poorly researched. The numbers used for the Ryzen 4600H Geekbench score is disingenuous at best. A quick search reveals the processor scores far higher when paired with the proper memory. With a computer configured properly, the 4600H scores over 1,100 in single threaded and...

News Intel's Iris Xe Max GPU Barely Beats Nvidia's GeForce MX330 In Latest Benchmark

What a disaster. I mean, the RX 550 is $60 right now. Just bought one the other day. And, it's old. If this is the best Intel has, what all of their R&D has been going into, future doesn't look bright. AMD crushing on CPU and GPU front. And, Intel sold off their NAND fab if I recall... What's...

Performance degradation in just 3 weeks?

Have you tried rolling back drivers to an earlier version? You can also restore your PC to an earlier date to see if something was installed causing slowdown. You can also start the game windowed and have your resource monitor open to see what's sucking your resources. I will say 83 is a little...

Whats the highest graphics card i can get

1050 ti would be solid with that 300w PSU you're talking about swapping in. You really don't need 16 GB of Ram unless you're editing some huge 4k video files, but if you've got it laying around, pop it in. Should be a decent machine once the GPU and PSU are upgraded.

Putting a laptop cpu on a desktop?

Chances are your CPU is soldered into your laptop MoBo. They're not made to upgrade, swap, etc... However, you could just hook your laptop up to your monitor and use it like a desktop. I do it with my Surface Book 2 everyday.

Microsoft Announces Smaller, Cheaper Surface Go

Looks interesting. Not sure who this is for though. Really small laptop, or not a great tablet... I had the Surface RT when they first came out years ago, and it was neat, and I'm glad the Surface has come as far as it has, but the RT was not great. And this kind of feels similar. At least you...

AMD Radeon RX Vega 64: Bundles, Specs, And Aug. 14 Availability

Man, I'm stoked. Everyone seems down. But looking at the monitor I'm getting, the Acer XR342CK which uses FreeSync, and the crazy price of all decent GPU's right now, and the $399 Vega 56 sounds like a steal to me. I'll be getting it as soon as it launches. Video editing, gaming, this thing will...

    AMD Announces Ryzen 7 1800X, 1700X, 1700 And Pricing, Pre-orders Begin Today

As a dude that edits 4K footage on a regular basis, records music, edits photos, and games... These bad boys look like the cat's meow! I'll definitely be picking one up in the coming months and relegate my Skylake build to lower level office work. ;-)

    GTX 960 4GB vs. R9 390 8GB??

He asked about the 390, not the 390x. The 390 is about $100 cheaper at around $329. Still, You're right about the 960. Not the 750 ti though. There would be quite a few games that would have to be dialed back even at 720p.

    GTX 960 4GB vs. R9 390 8GB??

The 390 is much faster than the 960, 970, and is only slightly slower than the 980. But, if you are only running at 720p, the 960 will run every game maxed out without a hitch. You won't need the 4gb version either. There are few games that use more than that @1080p let alone 720p. Obviously the...
