How hard to do the thermal paste? I've done CPUs on mobos in the past....

It was bought new - Its actually an ASUS Dual GeForce® RTX 2080 OC edition 8GB GDDR6 Hmm- I'd say 3 years old. Does same in 2 different cases now,. Have never disassembled it - is this an idea? "Did this crop up after a GPU driver update?" No, just noticed one day it was doing this.

This is an RTX 2080. Goes nuts when you place any decent load on it - fans running at 4000 RPM. Surely this is not right? Is it overheating?

This is a 16Gb module yeh? So why is it showing up as 8GB on HWinfo ?

This is nuts... About 1 in 10 it works. Otherwise it just power cycles. So far I've tried:- New PSU. New memory (one is primary slot) Taken out of case and run with no HDD etc attached. No change. Just got a brand new motherboard and STILL THE SAME. I guess it could be the cpu -any...

Swapped out PSU -same.

As I said PSU passes papercip test. Is this 100%? i.e. is there no other way its going to be faulty?

Intermittently its been doing this. Sometimes it powers on ok, sometimes the mobo doesnt seem to power up properly. Try again and it works. Anwyay, its stopped completely now and all I get is either the CPU or DRAM mobo leds. So far:- Removed DIMMS and put each one in one at a time in the...

OK. Weather is hot here at the moment but not that bad. PC was fine before but since yesterday its overheating under the slightest load. Fans seems to be all running OK. Surely the heatsink can't just stop working? Ideas?
