You know what I tried to post on MSI forums but the page wouldn't work.
Anyway I half solved this. I got the latest UFADOS from the AMI website.
First I got the next BIOS version from the one I had.
Upgrade installed.
Rebooted.
Works fine. Hurrah.
Then I got the latest update.
Upgrade...
Soooo...
I have an MSI H110M pro VH mobo
I have the latest BIOS files copied to USB
Mflash just won't recognise any files.
I've tried
16GB and 4GB USB
formatting to FAT
renaming the file to MSI.ROM
using Live Update 6 - which says the BIOS is already the latest, but really it's several...
Yeah I was surprised what coffee can do when I took the back off and had a look round.
I saw a vid of an repair engineer replacing the exact bit that's buggered, but he's a pro with all the nice equipment so I think it's probably above my skill level.
Maybe there's more damage than is apparent...
Hi thanks for the reply. I was assuming the motherboard was OK because it does things it's just that there is no picture. And I'm a terrible tight wad who'd rather fill his own teeth with bacofoil than pay for a dentist heh.
I got a Mac Book Pro (2012) that had a drink of coffee. Now the screen is black, although the laptop makes boot up noises.
I took the back off and cleaned off some corrosion from the motherboard, but the screen connector on the motherboard has lost a pin to the corrosion.
I got a display port...
Question about the pins you fix a cooler to motherboard with.
Need pins for my socket 1155 intel stock cooler. Can I buy pins for a 775 and use those ?
Ta
I have a couple of intel G630Ts, neither of them will boot in a gigabyte Z77 DS3H.
BIOS is up to date, board is fully functional. Any other socket 1155 chip works fine.
Any reason, apart from jacked chip, why they won't go ?
Altimeter multimeter alligator, whatever. :)
My clamshell packaging came today, took two weeks from China. It's transparent with a slightly metallic tint look to it, stamped with intel and ESD logo. Looks proper.
I'm looking at buying 100 (or so) clamshells for CPUs. There's a bunch on ebay direct from China but it's not clear whether they are proper anti static or just plain plastic.
Is it possible to tell ? Do these things get mislabeled ?
So, what would be the most adaptors you should sensibly use ? I notice that even r9 290x comes with adaptor cables so manufacturers seem to allow ofr some molex usage.
But graphics cards usually come with an adaptor for molex, would they supply this if molex didn't supply the right power ? Would a graphics card steal the power from other components if you put it on the same molex cable ?
What's the point of those six and eight pin power sockets on graphics cards ? If I can get a molex to PCI adaptor, why not just do it onboard and have a four pin molex socket instead ?
