Absolutely. HDD's alone are slow and bog down performance, ESPECIALLY an old one or even a dying one. Replace it with an SSD ASAP. Boosts performance in every area.
Also yes thermal paste is very very important to upkeep. Thermal paste alone can keep your PC 20-30 C cooler, replace the paste...
Get guys thought i'd revisit for another round after a few years to see if anybody has found any answers to my 2 year long input lag issue.
My issue originally began on a completely separate PC, after a Windows reinstall I had horrible in-game input lag in virtually every game I played, making...
I've had input lag in my mouse for 8 months. On several different pc's with different mice and different keyboards. I used different monitors all at 144hz and tried a different house and still had the problem. I tried all versions of windows as well.
Currently im running i7 9700k, RTX 2070, XPG...
I had HPET turned off in bios and everytime I try to turn it on, I can't even use google chrome because of the constant freezing I go through. HPET came in Enabled on my Bios but I was messing with settings in Windows and Bios and now I can't even use it.

Windows 10 but I tried 8.1 and 7. Also they are fresh installs from USB.
I play without any software since my keyboard and mouse are plug and play. I install graphics drivers and steam then play.

Yeah it's definitely 144hz. I bought a whole new monitor and it doesn't have as much if any input lag in it but I continue to get the same lag when trying to shoot people for fight them, makes it impossible to aim.
Had input lag for months, put down 2000 dollars for a new pc and I am getting the same input lag back. It is the most noticable in CS and is very inconsistent. It will be completely gone, or impossible to play on. I have an i7 9700k and RTX 2070 with 800w of power and 16gb of ram. Could it be my...
