You should be able to assign any port to output from your audio drivers. Try plugging it in the pink or blue or even other colors if you have a multi channel board and assign this port to be speakers headphones or front L R

Did you try HDMI?

Did you try connecting it to all ports and assuming those ports to output? Do all the ports behave the same way?

Did you try to disconnect the front panel from the motherboard?

No but i don't know your power options. In any case the first thing i would do is cmos clear and bios update. Then i would check any peripherals that may cause such probles especially ones you had from your previous build

I think you already checked if your output is set to your display or your mobo audio out. You should also check if you messed up your front audio panel connection to your mobo while you were installing the graphics card. If i had such a problem i would try to rule out software issues at first...
