Question Ray Tracing - is it only GPU-intensive or also the CPU ?

Just to update the situation .. today Nvidia offered a new driver version 528.49 .. and the FPS in the game have dramatically increased from the aforementioned 17 to roughly 50 FPS. While still far away from what i would expect a GPU like that to act like - it is still a 250% increase or so...

Question Ray Tracing - is it only GPU-intensive or also the CPU ?

I am asking because i have very conflicting results in the games i have played. In Cyberpunk, i can run RT at max settings and psycho (so, everything maxed) - also DLSS and frame generation ... at roughly 100 FPS In Control, i can turn everything on max with RT and get around 90-100 FPS i think...

Question Ray Tracing - is it only GPU-intensive or also the CPU ?

Probably a stupid question. But - ray tracing (Nvidia) .. is it all done on the GPU or does it also make the CPU work harder ?

Question My ongoing problems with my GPU or entire PC ... odd behaviour?

If someone reads this and has had similar problems. As i said - i took the PC to a specialist (expensive) - and got it fixed .. the result: the hardware is flawless, no problems there (phew..) cables, connections, power delivery - everything is fine so what was wrong? apparently i had...

Question My ongoing problems with my GPU or entire PC ... odd behaviour?

that might be a problem ... what drivers are those? .. does a CPU need a driver? Also, is that not part of the BIOS? (it is after all an AM4+ motherboard) - and why was that never a problem with the old GPU? edit: i cannot say if i did install those - certainly i did not do it specifically ...

Question My ongoing problems with my GPU or entire PC ... odd behaviour?

So, i had recently posted a question about the installation of a new GPU - and while not solved, we kind of got around the problem - but not really. We ran into something that we were simply not able to find a real explanation of .. so i will leave it here - maybe people experienced it, too (i...

Question Trouble installing a new graphics card (4090)

Had no idea about this. I guess i will be getting a new PSU then. And while being at it, i ll take into account what others said and go for 1000 or 1200 w i guess. That should defeat both uncertainties .. the low power PSU and the connections.

Question Trouble installing a new graphics card (4090)

I do not think there is much airflow where the block is. My watercooling fans blow air inside of the case .. which is a fairly flat panel behind where you mount the computer on (maybe 4cm deep and 50cm wide/high. I cannot say if the connection part gets hot. It is stuffed up in the back with...

Question Trouble installing a new graphics card (4090)

I do not really know how to. My friend built this PC and when i detach the cable, the little slots that screw the GPU in are not orientated how they ought to - that means, they are still vertical. There should be a part of the pc case that has the horizontal slots but i do not know where that...
