Everything will be compatible except AMD processors with intel mobos and vice versa. I would be careful about not having enough power for your build. You can make an amazing PC with just a 1000 at this time. (sorry for the long wait for the reply, ive not been on Tom's for a while)

Hello, I have a gigabyte p34gv2 laptop running windows 8.1. Recently applications (especially chrome) have been loading and running slowly. Furthermore the battery drains almost completely under a few hours in sleep mode. What could be wrong and how could I fix it? I appreciate any help!

That silver heat sink should not get in the way as the cooling fans on the gpus will face down if installed correctly. Also the GPU can only go in the slots that have a clip on the end. This will lock it in place. (so the blue one)

Directly under the PCIe port for the GPU (blue) there is a small inch long port (white). The network card would be installed there.
