CPU is just showing its age. Its not a bad CPU by any standard, but newer games just aren't that optimized anymore so theyll pound at your CPU. What games are you playing that makes this happen exactly?

Honestly, if that extra 100 isn't going to be used on getting a better GPU, I would say go for the 9800X3D. Itll last a bit longer life cycle wise than the 7800X3D.

Its also possible that the device is just dead unless you have another system to try it in.

Games are slightly more CPU intensive when using multiplayer - Mostly due to info sent from the server being computated or whatever (My coffee hasn't kicked in yet, sorry).

Could honestly be the HDMI cable shorting it out or something. HDMI cables can be weird sometimes. Potentially moving it to where you did has made whatever is going on in that cable, not cause a short.

Check your drivers and check your temps. Make sure ALL drivers ae up to date and check the thermals.

Only fix at this point is to either: A.) Purchase a new MOBO B.) Buy a new laptop. Replacing the ram slot, even if you had the skills and patience to do so, and equipment, not worth it.

Go with the 360mm AIO and also make sure its properly installed, could be that one of the screws may have came loose over time if not tightened which could lead to an issue with the cooler not making contact with the cpu, causing it to run hot.

If thats what you are doing, Maybe look into a Threadripper CPU. Might get more bang for your buck with one of those over a Ryzen CPUI.

Sounds potentially hardware related, maybe a ribbon cable thats loose and just makes enough contact for it to work?
