Ok. So i just started up the computer. Sound seemed like it was coming from the rear ports. So I took out the graphics card and used the dvi port on the the mobo sound was still going coming from between the cpu and the back ports. So I guess I may have to rma it?

What would be the best type of i7 to get and can you oc them pretty decently? price isn't really a big thing for me atm as long as its reasonable.

Is there anything significant different between these two processors besides price point? edit: i'm upgrading from a 6300 as I feel its under performing and getting ready to make the move to a new mobo as well.

these are white plastic standoffs with a flat circular surface abotu the size of a dime/penny that pegs into something. I finally found a youtube vid that helped. put the gold screws into the case and then use the black screws to screw into those. :) those plastic ones are confusing me though.

does the motherboard sit on the stand off screw or do i put the screw through it? :( i'm lost lol

i bought an amd processor from newegg and the heatsink fan has a pre-applied thermal paste. Should this be ample enough for the cpu or should i buy some more to apply before placing the heatsink? Thanks!
