It would be nice if AMD could bring down Intel's price gouging, but I won't get hyped by a single hand picked benchmark by the notoriously deceitful AMD's PR team. Let's wait for some third party tests and at least preliminary price points for these CPUs fist before over hyping yet another product.

If you have extra money you want to spend on the PC, I would suggest to save it or upgrade to an IPS monitor (if you don't have one yet) instead of going from i5 to i7 (just overclock the i5 if you did not do that already).

Will be hard to get a 1060 for less than 300usd as every manufacturer will take the founder's edition price price as baseline and will ignore the 250usd MSRP just like with 1070 and 1080. Most likely 480 (even with aftermarket cooling and additional power connectors for better overclocking)...

VR is a peripheral not a stand alone system, so exclusives in this case (not that exclusives are a good thing in any case) are just dumb. What's next, GPU, CPU exclusives? Monitor exclusives? Plus, when you take into account that this is a brand new market, making artificial software locked...

You just lost the lottery. My CPU is fairly crappy as well as I can only get it to 4.2 at 1.2v and need at least 1.28v for 4.4ghz (and even then not 100% stable). Was never able to boot at 4.5.

Sell. Plus you have to remember that sli 780 will eat a lot more power so you might have to upgrade your PSU as well. Better to stick to a single GPU.

Both your CPU and GPU are at fault here. Take a look at DS3 CPU scaling - http://www.techspot.com/review/1162-dark-souls-3-benchmarks/page5.html AMD at 3GHz (your 8120) can't get to 60fps while 680 with an i7 can't get to 50fps at 1080p. So if you OC your CPU to 4GHz you will still be stuck...

1070 will be cheaper than the used 980 so it's irrelevant that it will be an overkill for 1080p.

Why wait for 1080 to get an outdated 980ti? Just get a 1070 and be done with it.
