If possible, copy, do not move, 1st priority folders and files from source to target, then 2nd priority copy, and so on. I recommend not moving, because if anything goes wrong during the attempted Move, both source and target might get corrupted. At least with the Copy, the chances of both...

Seagate utility might lock out the bad sectors, which is ok. Or, it might actually recover a bad sector or more and return it/them to active service. My caution is: I am not sure if Seagate utility can "tell" you why the bad sectors happened in the first place, and I'm sure it cannot...

I have always given my physical hard-drives and all partitions such as C, D, E, F, etc., unique names (max is eight characters I think). That way, no matter what boot/load, no matter what utility, the unique names "tell" me what's what. Especially during backup operations, restore operations...

Do the new sticks work by themselves in the computer? Reason for asking: if the new sticks by themselves work, then something on the mobo is balking. In older PCs, if only using 2 slots out of 4, I had to use the slots given in the manual. I.E., if both old pair and new pair of RAM work in...

I'm not sure, however, I think something as strong as MiniTool Professional Data Recovery which includes a partition recovery function might very well help here. I sure hope before this happened that you made backups of your data onto external media.

Don't forget to consider the OS housekeeping, i.e., setup of what I used to know as FAT (showing my age!), track placement, and so on. That stuff normally does not get counted when one does byte-space searching.

Please tell us that before this situation, you have been making backups onto external media.

There is a long shot, MiniTool Professional Data Recovery, back when I purchased it, includes a module for partition recovery. Rumor has it MiniTool has a free partition sniffer -- I don't know. There are several free and fee partition recovery programs, either separate or bundled with data...

Can this drive be placed into an external USB carrier and tried as a data drive on another computer? Or, do have you a data recovery USB or DVD boot and, if the HD can be accessed and read, use that to copy off your presentation to another USB device? Do not attempt any DIY HDD diagnostics or...

Please tell us you are making routine backups onto external media before all of this happened. And, you will continue making 2-3 backup sets onto external media.
