It was an external drive that I put most of my files on (and I have backups btw). Does the OS still do stuff on drives like that? All my programs are on my PC's SSD. Also, it was just a slight bump, but I read that even slight bumps can cause problems, so I'm paranoid about it.

I have this degaussing coil that I bought for my CRT TV a long time ago. I just want to store it atm but I read on the instructions that it could affect magnetic media. Since I have no idea how this stuff works I want to be absolutely sure, this won't affect my hard drives if the coil is not...

Can someone confirm or deny what I'm saying? How come the permissions settings are like that? I will probably look into setting up VeraCrypt at some point but I would like to know definitively why those settings don't work for me.

Yeah but it seems like it would be easy if the permissions settings worked, but they don't seem to work at all. I don't know why those settings even exist. Maybe because they worked in older versions of Windows? I even found the specific account I wanted to edit permissions for in those settings...
