funny thing being you can't compare a 290x to gtx 980 the 980 wins in performance but of course no one tells you you'd expect a better card for 150 to 200 more bucks than the 290x look at your price comparisons

you want a noticeable difference get a 1440 you wont be dissapointed wish i hadn't opted for a 144hz 1920x1080 monitor after looking at my friends 1440p hope this helps
