Thank you to everyone for the replies. I should clarify that I do not mean to run the GPUs together, I just want the system to recognize the 7770 properly and disregard the APU's graphics. I haven't used a desktop in a long time, and mostly have all of my knowledge from laptops, and laptops...

I want to build an incredibly basic PC that will play some very old games. I don't need much power but I just have a couple of questions. I have a lot of old parts lying around that I want to use. PC PartPicker does not really report information on this "old" hardware as far as compatibility...

It's difficult to say if they have the same specs, almost comes down to a matter of preference really. Is there any location you can go near you (unfamiliar with the UK, sorry) that has displays? If you're polling for preferences, I've always preferred Dell when it comes to laptops over HP.

If those are literally your only concerns, and nothing else about the laptop: assuming they are both quad and similar clock speeds, I would go with the i7 8th Gen and Ti card. Not a lot of information here, however, and it's near impossible to say.

I too would focus on the screen. Not only in terms of color accuracy, but also in terms of resolution. Assuming a 15.6'' display, 1366x768 may be found as cumbersome for that type of work if that is the resolution you are looking at. I'm not sure you will be able to find a reliable FHD notebook...

I'm assuming they are relatively the same price? If so, go for the Acer, just from a specs point of view. In other words, if there are no other major features in play (cooling design, keyboard extras, etc) the specs on the Acer are much better. I would look into what kind of panels each has for...

They are both dual core.
