I’m with charter spectrum. They are only one in the area with half way decentish speeds... our cable going to the modem COULD be the issue, but the saw something serious on their end so we will see. The customer service rep wasn’t really wanting to go into details...

I have good and bad news. Turns out our provider has been screwing us over and only giving us a 1/4 of our speed max (there’s a problem with our network) so I guess I have been taking full advantage?

That’s terrible! I indeed did not pay for the router, it came with the rental but I’ll just upgrade it now... I pretty much assumed that every modern router used it, guess not huh.

A gigabit switch will still do it? Won’t it only go up to the 100mbps supported by the router? Or will I put it between the modem and the router? Also I have a TP-Link archer C50.

It has to be my PC causing it, when I plugged the Ethernet into my other laptop it said that it can hit a gigabit. My router apparently says it’ll go up to 100/10 mbps, that isn’t a gigabit. At this point, I probably should upgrade that.

ohhhh ok. i'd get a 1050 ti. it'll be a HUGE improvement. That said you could get by with a 1060, and get a used 3gb for 170.

I have 760 and a 1050... they perform almost exactly the same. As for those two cards, get whatever cheapest, there wont be any real performance difference... 2 percent at the most.

The 550 watt PSU should work for a gtx 1070... but I'd be careful. Which GPU is in your system, that link is being wacky.

I know this is old but i'm really wondering why 200 fps is so terrible. I get 60 fps in fortnite and it STILL feels butter smooth... that said if its unbearable i'd say you have a CPU bottleneck.

The ray tracing technology on the RTX cards is super exciting... but i'm not sure how much it'll be adopted/how well it'll be utilized. I guess we'll have to wait for benchmarks.
