Yeah that is the correct manual. So you're saying a 2x4gb and 1x8gb is not a good way to achieve 16gb? Would I be better off ditching the 4gbs and buying 2x 8GB?

When you say the "other end of the connector" do you mean the end which says "type 4"? If yes, then that is the one which is plugged into an 8 pin slot on the psu. I have plugged in a CPU cable into the motherboard but haven't turned anything on at all yet.
