Question Best way to expand internal Motherboard USB Headers?

Have you had any experience with internal JUSB via PCIe cards? I was having trouble finding one that had internal 9-pins, the only ones I could find were 2 or 4 external with a 20-pin internal. Here's a list: AIO Cooler: Corsair H115i Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe (Front Header Connection(s)) RGB...

Question Best way to expand internal Motherboard USB Headers?

I have an MSI Z97 Gaming 5 motherboard which has 2 9-pin JUSB headers on it, and 1 front I/O JUSB header. I have just upgraded from air cooling to an AIO loop which requires a USB header for RGB control and power supply. I need to connect my front I/O with both a JUSB 20-pin and a JUSB 9-pin for...

[SOLVED] Y connector 2x6 PCIe to 1x6+2 PCIe

Thank you very much for your help and time. I’ll purchase the Corsair PSU. Hopefully I can find a use for the Rosewill so it’s not wasted!

[SOLVED] Y connector 2x6 PCIe to 1x6+2 PCIe

And you’d recommend that over the Rosewill?

[SOLVED] Y connector 2x6 PCIe to 1x6+2 PCIe

Yeah when you say it like that, I don't wanna sell someone a fire hazard. I'd rather they have a good stable system. Would something like this be decent enough at an 80 Plus Gold rating? It has all the connectors and its only $50 ...

[SOLVED] Y connector 2x6 PCIe to 1x6+2 PCIe

If I get a new PSU, is there a one you'd recommend that would be a good minimum? I usually buy high end PSUs for my good builds, I basically just need this one to run, and run safely.

[SOLVED] Y connector 2x6 PCIe to 1x6+2 PCIe

I've done it with a molex connector (two molex to one 6-pin) before without any issues, is it really that much of a hazard if the wire gauge is safe enough? And the only way I can get the right combination of connectors/pins is if I go from two molex to one 6-pin, and from two 6-pin to one...

[SOLVED] Y connector 2x6 PCIe to 1x6+2 PCIe

I have a PSU with the rated power capable of running a system with a GTX 970, i7 4770, and 16GB of 1866 MHz RAM, but it does not have the right connectors. It only has 2 6-pin PCIe power connectors and the version of the SSC card I have from EVGA requires a 6-pin and an 8-pin. I have a molex...

    Question Molex to 6-Pin Connector

I'll boot it up and see how it does just idling after a few minutes. Worst case I go buy a cheap but at least somewhat better and decently rated Bronze power supply soon. Will keep you updated, thanks!

    Question Molex to 6-Pin Connector

I know it's better for sure to use a dedicated 6-pin, but is it safe to at least test it with the card? The worst it can do is not supply enough power to the graphics card, so it won't display. I don't think its possible to damage it with too little power in this regard? edit Is it at least...

    Question Molex to 6-Pin Connector

Just realized the power supply (CX430) I have in a sort of pieced together extra build I have doesn’t have enough PCI-e connectors for my GTX 970 SSC I wanted to throw in it. I’d rather not spend the money on a new PSU, as the 430 should be enough for now until I can get a new one. I have a...

Greatly concerned about storage and cost

I guess the only other thing I’d be worried about, do you think I should stick with the 1TB one they shipped, or get the 512GB and upgrade to a 1TB (because of speeds)? Because I doubt that the drive it comes with is a Samsung 970 Evo or Pro, which would be best.

Greatly concerned about storage and cost

Thanks for the quick responses!! Yeah I’m an engineering/programming student. (Major/minor respectively). I would be upgrading the drive right away to a 1TB one because of that steep price change I could easily afford it and pawn the 512GB one. Though you are right about the pain upgrading. And...

Greatly concerned about storage and cost

It looks sorta difficult but do-able. I don’t think I would have much trouble with it.... at that rate and considering what the colleges said and everything else, do you think that I should stick with the 1TB one for $250 more or buy the 512GB one?

Greatly concerned about storage and cost

So I just ordered last night the HP Spectre x360 2018 15” model with vega graphics for $1616 including tax. This is it: : And today HP (ironically I called and asked if there would be an option for this soon and they said no) released the option of a 512GB model for the laptop. The colleges I’m...
