Just built a PC, but keeps on restarting

I built a PC with a Pentium G3258 and an MSI B85M-P32 motherboard. I use an SSD (with Windows 7 already installed on it). However, when it boots up, the 'Windows is starting' animation freezes instantly and the system restarts and the process repeats. Also when I try to update the BIOS...

    Z97m G3258 Overclocking motherboard

Thanks a lot. I'll go with the ASRock Z97M Anniversary (purely because it was made for that particular CPU anyway). :)

    Z97m G3258 Overclocking motherboard

I need a Z97M motherboard that will support a G3258 WITHOUT a BIOS update. I'll need to be able to overclock it too. (It has to be an m-ATX motherboard, not an ATX) Thanks :)

    Budget (Mid Range) Gaming PC!

It should do the job. Apparently the VS series is more reliable than the CX series, however are there any options from the brands that 'scaniatruckfan' mentioned? If it's your only option, then go for it. :)

    Budget (Mid Range) Gaming PC!

Seriously? Who even plays games at 1600x900? The R9 270 plays games without issues at 1080p at medium-high settings. Like I said, you should definitely change the PSU. Thermaltake's other stuff (like cases and CPU coolers) are good, but not their PSUs.

    Budget (Mid Range) Gaming PC!

The only component I would recommend changing is the PSU. Thermaltake's Smart series are unreliable power supplies, and you should never skimp on a power supply when buying components. Are there any other PSUs available? The rest of the components are perfectly fine (you can overclock the R9 270...

"Your PC ran into a problem and needs to restart"

The same thing happened to my brother's laptop just under a year ago. After some research, I found out that it was caused by driver issues with the integrated Realtek Wi-Fi chipset. Firstly, I went to Device Manager, found the wifi chipset and uninstalled it (the software and driver). Then I...

    1866mhz ram on B85M-P32 (up to 1600mhz)

Will 1866mhz ram work on a motherboard that only supports 1066, 1333 and 1600mhz speeds? I've looked on other threads, and they say it will automatically downclock. Is this the case? Thanks :)

    G3258 OC low-profile cooler

I have similar specs to your PC so that's good news. I'm getting an 4GB Sapphire R9 380 NITRO, which has really powerful fans which should exhaust some hot air out through the bottom of the case.

    G3258 OC low-profile cooler

@NubUser What sort of temps are you getting in your Elite 130 (I'm pretty sure that's a small case so any temps around those or better will be good). Thanks :)

    G3258 OC low-profile cooler

The battle is between the Noctua NH-L12 and a small Seidon 120V V2 liquid cooler. I'll decide and get back to you.

    G3258 OC low-profile cooler

Yeah, thanks for helping again. But I don't really like its looks (my build will have a massive window, on the Corsair Air 240 case) and the copper heatsink will look a bit distracting. Would you recommend any Scythe, Noctua, Cooler Master or other small heatsink fans that may be up for the job...

    G3258 OC low-profile cooler

That's a pretty nice cooler, but sorry, it's a bit too big for me (basically it covers up the RAM slots, and I've got a micro-atx mobo). Thanks anyway for the quick response :)

    G3258 OC low-profile cooler

I'm looking for a small but well-performing low-profile cooler which I can use to cool an OC'ed G3258. Any suggestions would be awesome! Thanks :D
