    Depending on what games you want to play there's lots of linux distros that could work for you.

    The chip should not be that hot even if the fan was the wrong way around. The most likely issue is an error in mounting the cooler. Make sure it is correctly seated, every time you seat it you need to reapply the thermal paste.

    Many OEM cases are like that. You should however be able to fit the card or remove the shroud on the cooler without having to cur the case.
