Coolermaster 212 evo

So! Question for you guys I just bought the cooler master 212 evo and paired it with my AMD Athlon x4 processor and it runs at 80 degrees just in bios! The fan always spins at max RPM and yes I have re-seated it multiple times. Everything seems to be working including the fan just it seems to not be dissipating the heat very well. What could be the problem?

BTW! When I use the stock cooler my CPU runs at 35 degrees celsius in BIOS.

maybe you have the fan backwards. It should blow through the heatsink.

It definitely does blow through the heatsink. Its quite the issue.

The chip should not be that hot even if the fan was the wrong way around. The most likely issue is an error in mounting the cooler. Make sure it is correctly seated, every time you seat it you need to reapply the thermal paste.

I would say it is the cooling compound or paste was not applied properly

Can you attach some pictures, are you applying thermal paste correctly?

An outside chance of the heatsink being damaged but it is far more likely that it is mounted incorrectly.

My 212 evo runs at 800 rpm and idling 33 with a FX-6300 in ambient of somewhere around 20-25. Are you sure you removed the plastic before attaching it? That's the only thing I can think of, because it would still boot, I've seen this.

I 100% took off the plastic and I'll post pictures of me mounting it in a bit!

So it turns out that the cooler was defective! I replaced it and am now getting 28 degrees idle. Thanks guys!
