Hard drives fail.... and sometimes there is no warning. You will need to restore from backup onto a different drive.

It's dead. How important is the data? It will cost a lot to have the data recovered. Do you have a backup?

When you say you just need it to run, what are you going to do with it? What software? The software you want(or need) to run could determine the OS you need to install.

When you install software or create any file, it has to go somewhere. When you delete a file that file location becomes free to write data to. If you write data over any deleted file, you may not be able to recover the file - even with Recuva.

You're not hot swapping if the power is off. No different then replacing the drive with the power off.

change the channel. Might be some type of interference. I used to work close to a TV station and it did a lot of weird stuff to our network.

send the family away so there are no distractions. Have them take the dog with them.

disconnect the HDD while installing, and install to the SSD

turn the speakers off, or turn the volume down

re-install

He said this is for the storage of the backups. It isn't the actual data so he isn't depending on the raid as a backup.
