[SOLVED] Windows 10 Update removed one socket from 2 CPU system

Issue resolved. Thank you for clearing up the misconception I was turning 2 CPUs on when I was actually turning 6 out of 8 cores off.

I went into boot and advanced setting and under "number of CPUs" it only had the option for "1" or "2" in the dropbox. Yesterday it listed 8.

[SOLVED] Windows 10 Update removed one socket from 2 CPU system

If I do that will MS still let me use the same license as it's been activated on the system once already. This is all new to me and the ins and outs are complex to say the least.

[SOLVED] Windows 10 Update removed one socket from 2 CPU system

When I go into the Device Manager all 8 cores are listed, so they are being seen at some level by Windows 10 Pro. They just aren't all being used.

[SOLVED] Windows 10 Update removed one socket from 2 CPU system

No I didn't do a full wipe and install of Pro. The ISO was downloaded from Microsoft. The Windows 10 Pro license was recognized by Microsoft and Windows 10 Pro is activated now. The only issue is that after the 1st major update Windows 10 Pro is now back to seeing only 1 socket and 2 cores...

CPU use is spiking at around 30% with the light tasks that were tying the system up with Windows 10...

[SOLVED] No signal to TV monitor after resizing Desktop

How do you boot in safe mode with Windows 10, from what I understand they removed that option and pressing F8 at start no longer functions. If I can't do that I'll try the bios reset as I can get to that option at the start screen. It's an old workstation so it has a start sequence I haven't...
