Question M1, Ryzen 9 or i7-4790 for DaVinci Resolve?

Actually, in this video he seems to say that the G14 would do a better job with video editing - which makes sense, but his tests are focused on far bigger files than mine. I am leaning more toward the M1, because I believe that the G14's prowess would probably really not make much of a...

Question M1, Ryzen 9 or i7-4790 for DaVinci Resolve?

Thanks for your answer. Gaming really isn't part of my use case. Everything else - is. A lot of web browsing, some MS Office (or a Mac equivalent), streaming, video conferencing, sometimes basic audio and image editing, all occurring at the same time, but DaVinci Resolve is by far the most...

Question M1, Ryzen 9 or i7-4790 for DaVinci Resolve?

I've been using resolve on a desktop computer with the following specs: i7-4790 CPU RX580 8GB GPU 16GB RAM Samsung NVMe I mostly use it to edit 1080p timelines with 4k source materials. The videos that I edit are not very long (usually under 30 minutes), the timelines aren't complex (usually no...

[SOLVED] One fan on my graphics card randomly starts spinning at full speed

So, I get that the recommendation is to replace the fan itself?

[SOLVED] One fan on my graphics card randomly starts spinning at full speed

I have a Sapphire RX580 SE. Lately it started doing this weird things where one of the fans starts to spin for no reason, at very high speed. This happens regardless of GPU temp or load (including when the it really isn't doing anything and is at 25C). When the fans should kick in (when temps...

    Question Laptop CPU hitting 96C

The fans are spinning, yes. The problem started before I repasted - that's why repasted it in the first place. I also tried to redo it. Still failed. I'm really not sure that I did the repaste correctly, but I did read online, and did what the tips suggested. Is there any way to know for sure...

    Question Laptop CPU hitting 96C

The laptop is old, but generally - still functioning very well. The fan is new. The temps aren't from just opening Chrome, but from loading about 10 tabs at the same time.

Question Fingerprint reader lost some functionality after Win 10 installation

I get an error saying that Windows Biometrics Frameworks needs to be enabled. I googled this, and followed the answers that I found there. Still the same error.

    Question Laptop CPU hitting 96C

So I guess I'll try (1) - I prefer a little more noise from the fan (especially with how quiet it is) to any loss of performance. What's the best way to do it? TPFanControl?

Question Fingerprint reader lost some functionality after Win 10 installation

I had Win 7 installed on my ThinkPad X220 for as long as I could, but when support ended, I upgraded to Win 10. This means that the fingerprint reader is now managed by Hello, instead of Lenovo's software. Since this upgrade, the reader only works when a user is logged in; never after a restart...

    Question Laptop CPU hitting 96C

My ThinkPad X220 i7 laptop started exhibiting signs of fatigue - when I'd load a few Chrome tabs at the same time, the CPU fan would kick in and things would start to get stuck. I installed TPFanControl to monitor the CPU temps - seemed that on those occasions it would go well above 90C, I tried...

[SOLVED] Are all Thermaltake ToughPower 600 (W0103RU ) PSUs 80+ certified?

Oh, I wasn't gonna buy from that link. It was just to demonstrate the difference between the two seemingly different models. Is it the age of the model that's the problem or the age of the unit?

[SOLVED] Are all Thermaltake ToughPower 600 (W0103RU ) PSUs 80+ certified?

Looking at model Thermaltake ToughPower 600W W0103RU online, I find two different designs for this PSU. It seems that for one design it always states that it is 80+ certified (https://www.newegg.com/thermaltake-toughpower-w0103ru-600w/p/N82E16817153033 ), whereas for the other one - it does not...
