Question M.2 speed on fully populated Asus Formula board?

No, I couldn't find anywhere that said they were shared. So why are the M2 slots 1 and 2 running so badly? I'm no bios expert but I can't see anything in there that would be problematic. I can't remember off the top of my head what the BIOS version is, but it's the latest release as of...

Question M.2 speed on fully populated Asus Formula board?

Hi there. I have an Asus Rog z690 Formula board which I'm currently running in before deciding it's ready for a permanent desk position. While the manual is actually pretty helpful it doesn't list all the data I need to work out what's going on right now. I'm fully utilising the 3x M.2 slots...

Question Thin film on Transfer pads?

Hi there. I'm water cooling a GPU for the first time, I'm applying the thermal pads supplied by EKWB and removing a film from both side, one side is left with an extremely thin clear film, it's impossible to remove, it flakes in tiny bits. Is this just for ease of applying the pads? Thanks.

    Question Access to USB ports.

All of which is why I expressly said I'm not going to use hubs, I need to route cables (somehow) from the back of the pc board to the front or side. It's an Asus Z690 Formula, although I don't see what the difference is, all the ports are 3.2 A, and one type C. I can see I'm going to have to...

    Question Access to USB ports.

Hi there. I wont bother you with why, please just take it as read, I can't get to the back of my pc easily. (Short story, wheelchair, big table, etc) I've just built a lovely new system, Z690 with some blingy bits. The board has a plethora of USB ports on the back which I can't get to, it's...

    [SOLVED] 2x rxt3090 and 2x8 lanes?

How does 2x 8 and 1x 16 work out? It's been over 20 years since I built a pc from individual parts and things have moved on a bit. I have most of it worked out in my head, but the 2x8 vs 1x16 on the pice slots has me a little confused and concerned. For modelling and rendering support (mostly...

4x hard drive to one usb connection?

Hi folks. I have 4 old sata driven hanging around from old systems. They're only 80Gb but they are all identical, which made me think I should be able to build a speedy raid from them. The problem being I don't want them in a PC, I'd like them connected to a raspberry pi. I suppose the...

    Mobo for 4x GTX 1080

Hi folks. I'm trying to spec a high end design and render workstation. The major need is for 4x GTX 1080 GPU. 64Gb 3200 Ram. Chip will be an i7 7700k. (I'd prefer Broadwell 6950x but I can't find a board with the needed 4x GPS slots.) I've looked at the Maximus IX Apex, but it only supports...

    CPU advice please.

Hi folks. I'm planning a new PC build, mostly for rendering/software development a ROG Maximus board, 4x1080ti GPU, memory and storage to suit. The GPU's will take care of the rendering and the minimal gaming I do, but design environments and physics simulations will rely heavily on the CPU. I...

    Mini pc for backup server?

No, the backup drives will be solid state, as is the NAS. I'm worried about the life of the SSD in the mini as all that data will have to pass through.

    Mini pc for backup server?

Hi folks. I'm thinking of getting a mini pc to use as a backup server, overnight copying data from a NAS to a couple of external USB drives. This is basically all the mini box will do. I'm wondering if I'll have a problem with the lifespan of the ssd, would I be better off using a Mac mini that...
