R5 1600 would be a good choice but i really doubt 15 4440 bottlenecking gtx 970. i'd say you better buy new gpu than r5 1600 if your purpose is only for gaming.

The abilitiy to SLI. Most if not all X370 boards have the SLI chip, the b350 however as far as today doesnt support SLI. Some b350 boards actually support crossfire, for example MSI B350 Tomahawk and Gigabyte AB350 Gaming 3.
