    well, It's not that long and I've tried it on it's own and doesn't recognise it nor not recognise it.. though I'll double check it. i've tried a couple of other ports but they might be on the same connector, so i'll have to try another one. might be degrading signal but it's.. just over a foot...

    It doesn't detect the spare one anymore then the original one.. so it's pretty much as I expected in the way of bung the drive into another machine or external cables when I get hold of them.. thanks ^_^

    Erm.. okay.. this is now very confusing.. I checked the voltage level, it was set to auto running a BIT lower then the ram states (it was running 1.84v when ram says 1.2v). boosting that up doesn't seam to have had any effect but I see a problem.. and I've tested it and It.. it seams to fix it...

    Ah.. didn't notice that it was ECC ram.. So any of them should be fine? Its not on that list but Crucial CT8G4DFD824A fine do you think? Crucial claim it's non-ECC
