Question Ryzen 1600x to Ryzen 5 3600x - possible on same motherboard?

Hi All, I'm looking to upgrade my CPU from Ryzen 1600x to Ryzen 5 3600x. I know they are both Socket AM4, but will the difference in Zen architecture stop me from using the same motherboard I have installed? Motherboard: ASUSTeK Crosshair VI Hero (AM4) - X370 Chipset...

[SOLVED] 1440p at 144hz - can my machine run it?

Hi All, This is my current spec: AMD Ryzen 5 1600x 16GB DDR 4 Nvidia GTX 1070 Do you think it's a good starting point to purchase a 1440p 144hz monitor? I've done a bit of research and it looks like it might be good for some competitive games, but might struggle on most AAA games? What do...

Trying to limit bottle-necking on a budget

Right... all installed. Forgot to connect my DVD player, but I'll do that later lol. Was testing it on Hitman Absolution on Ultra. After 10 mins play, the card hit 78 degrees and the fan was at around 46% percent. Is this normal?

Yeah, I went for the 8 core at the time due to the price vs performance at time. More saving up required lol

Thanks, I've been doing some reading and I can see your point of having a good quality PSU against a bad quality PSU of the same wattage. (Just don't want to wreck my system lol) I'll go for them both I think. Thanks again :)

Trying to limit bottle-necking on a budget

Cheers, would that 550W PSU you linked give me enough breathing room? Also that GTX 970 you linked, is that the shorter model? I think I would be happy with a PSU of at least 650W. Sorry, I'm asking many questions, any recommendations?

Thanks for your replies. I can't get the PSU info at the moment, but I'd rather be safe than sorry and I think I should upgrade my PSU as well. Any recommendations for a quality PSU compatible with a GTX 970?

Thanks, I think I'm set on the GTX 970 (I do love Shadowplay). Reckon I'd need a higher watt PSU though?

Ok thanks, I'd say max £300. I've been looking at the GTX 970, but wasn't sure if that'd need a bigger/different PSU? Any recommendations for a compatible PSU? - I just want to say, I posted this 5 mins ago and I've already had 3 responses, pretty amazing if you ask me :)
