What makes a motherboard compatible with others?

If I were to do this would the option to reinstall in windows recovery settings be sufficient?

Well how would I do that? If I reset the pc in windows recovery would that be sufficient?

I'm having trouble with 100% disk space when I download things and open and close application on windows 10. I don't know much about computers but I've carried a ssd from my old computer to as new build so I think its a software problem. I'm on windows 10 and this seems to slow down my computer.
