Problem fixed by updating mobo BIOS.

I bought a MSI R9 280X 3GB edition. It has a dual BIOS feature. When I installed it (it was on the hybrid BIOS setting) , powered on the pc the monitor just stays in sleep mode like it's not connected to the gpu and I can hear windows boot up. When switched to the Legacy BIOS it works normally...
