I have the Dell 8930 and a Dell P2715 4K Monitor. Will I get a better resolution quality using the Mini DP and HDMI connection vs. the HDMI to HDMI connection?

O.k, here's my situation, i have a Canon 6D and i want a 4K Monitor. I was told by an agent at one of the biggest vendors in the Country that i can't get 3840 x 2160 resolution from this setup. I have the Dell 8930 PC with a NVIDIA GTX 1060 6gb GPU. I have to say, i'm not technically savvy...

I'm considering upgrading to a 4K Monitor. I now have the Dell Ultrasharp u2717d with 2560x1440 WQHD resolution. My concern is the issue with small text on a 4K monitor. Just HOW SMALL is the text compared to what i have now on my u2717d?
