I spilled cereal on my laptop keyboard this morning and I can't press certain keys. Sometimes I could press a key and it works and other times it doesn't. Also, when I was trying to press the ' O ' key, nothing happened at first, as with most keys, and then ' . ' came up instead. What I came to...

It said about the same thing, but took way longer probably because my laptop is only a 1.3 GHz processor(really slow). And it did not prompt me for a restart, but, when I restarted, it did update files.

I opened cmd as administrator and typed the command: 'sfc /scannow' and after waiting for about 3 hours it said Verification 100% complete and said something about finding corrupted files and fixing them and it said that the log was in CBS.log. It also said to restart the computer, I did that...

It did the trick!!! My windows is back to normal! It was the update....and we were blaming it on poor Start8. :| I did the sfc scan in cmd prompt and restarted. There were alot of corrupt files but the scan fixed it. It restarted and implimented what was done in the scan and updated windows...

I believe strongly now, that the problem has alot to do with the update since I checked the update history and it said the update failed so the files might have gotten corrupted. I am doing an sfc scan right now and will install the next update that there is for windows 8.1 after the scan is...

The link to download the program on the site you gave me is not working. I don't have a windows 8 disk because I got windows 8 with the laptop. The computer starts straight to the desktop and the metro is not seen whatsoever. Thanks Regards, Tomas

I completely uninstalled start8 from my computer and it's still the same. I can't get anything metro. Thanks anyway. :) Edit: I made a new DWORD value in the exlorer folder in redgedit, named it RPEnabled and left the 0 in the field, restarted and absolutely nothing happened Regards, Tomas.

That's exactly what I did, I disabled it. It has the same problem and all I want is the metro stuff back, like the charms bar and the start menu. None of the metro stuff work, like when I click on the internet icon, it doesn't work neither does the windows key in general, the windows key is...
