Question BIOS countdown since changing CPU ?

An old PC, LGA775 ASUS clockable MB, it has had quite a few CPU's in its time, with no real problem. The previous CPU was an E8500 clocked to 3.75, the latest is an Xeon E5450, clocked to 3.60, works great. It had one of those before with no problem, got stuffed by a PSU failure. I have tried...

Question BIOS countdown since changing CPU ?

Installed a different CPU, but now on start-up at the end of BIOS doing its thing, there is a 10-second countdown, then the PC starts. It does say press any key to continue, which I do. I have tried everything, but nothing stops the countdown. This did not happen with previous CPU's. The...

Question Bigger RAM sticks or not.

Did an MHz test on auto and checked on CPU-Z, still at around 1580MHz, but the CPU (now at idle/CPU-Z) is jumping from around 2.34 to 3.75, temperature is now lower too. Hmmmmm, and still runs great. :giggle: For a bit of fun, I might buy a couple of 1600MHz sticks, just to see what happens...

Question Bigger RAM sticks or not.

CPU-Z says running at 1580MHz, I think that is perhaps the motherboard O.C. limit, as I used that in experimenting, I just thought that IF 1600MHz sticks were installed it may improve stuff if on auto.... Think I will put it on auto and check the MHz after. Thanks for reply...;)

Question Bigger RAM sticks or not.

Still would like a definitive answer, but perhaps there isn't one........:tonguewink: Motherboard is 1333MHz overclock-able..... Now overclocked the Intel E8500 to 3.75 MHz, works great. But the MHz is now 1580MHz with the original 1333MHz RAM sticks. Will the set-up be happier with 1600MHz...

Question Bigger RAM sticks or not.

    Just done a CPU-7/ memory, a bit beyond me, but have a look... DRAM Frequency.....................789.5MHZ FSB: DRAM.................................1:2 CAS# Latency.................................9 clocks RAS# to CAS# Delay....................9 clocks RAS#...

Question Bigger RAM sticks or not.

I know it off-by-heart with all my dealings with it....:D ASUS P5G41T-M LX...Manufactured in 2013.... I must repeat, it is working great, I just want to know that if the FSB is now near 1600MHz, but the board is manufactured as a 1333MHz board, will me installing 1600MHz sticks improve...

Question Bigger RAM sticks or not.

I just want to know what the something will be, in other words, does the "now" Rated FSB of 1579 MHz need 1600MHz sticks to perform at its best, just a yes or no will do....... I had an 800 Holley on top of a "Doug Nash" Warrior intake for my UK street car, you can't get better than that.....:p

Question Bigger RAM sticks or not.

Yes, my ol' PC is now my Holley carb, as the hotrod has gone..........:p I just want to know what will happen with the 1600MHz sticks, it will be something or nothing, do you know....? ;)

Question Bigger RAM sticks or not.

After my last question here, my ol' PC is now up and running great, this time with a different CPU, Intel E8500 @ 3.16 GHz, RAM are the same 2 x 4 1333MHz RAM sticks.. My system is an LGA775 1333 O.C. board, yes it is ageing, but I like it. Been messing around with overclocking the E8500, it...

    Question Boot problem ?

Fixed, though not straight forward, for me. I found a s/h replacement motherboard from a PC shop, they kindly sent it with one RAM stick and a CPU, so I connected it up with my mouse, keyboard on the bench with VGA, it worked.....:p Took their RAM stick out and installed my 2 sticks, still...

    Question Boot problem ?

Failed both, I have my windows on a USB memory stick, it lights up but does nothing. The only thing left is RAM, board or the BIOS chip is stuffed. After doing a bit of research, I am beginning to think the latter. I can pick up another board for peanuts here, so think it maybe the way to go...

    Question Boot problem ?

I now have the PC internals out on my desk all connected. Just done a quick test to see if SDD/HDD is getting power, and also plugged a memory stick into a USB port.. I can feel the HDD is spinning, the memory stick has its light on, the board has its light on, the fan is spinning but no beeps...

    Question Boot problem ?

I did have, when the problem started, a NUBWO NPS-010 550w, I tested it via the motherboard 24 pin plug, the readings were to me all over the place, 12v wires were showing anywhere from 11.25 to 12.8, 3.3v were 3.8v, so I replaced it with a NUBWO NPS-030 550w, same thing with far less wiring...
