[SOLVED] Video port output limit: Does Sapphire have manuals for video cards?

My company was kind enough to loan me a unit (RX 580; couldn't actually find a RX 570 on the racks) for testing at home. The two HDMI ports have their own separate channels, as is a DP port. Which is exactly what I need. NICE.

[SOLVED] Video port output limit: Does Sapphire have manuals for video cards?

I've read those specs before, but from past experience I know that a card having X-number of output ports does not necessarily mean X-number of monitors having their separate (Windows) desktop space. Some ports might be shared channel. I just need to ascertain that by the EyeFinity stamp, it...

[SOLVED] Video port output limit: Does Sapphire have manuals for video cards?

My home work computer has for a decade been using a venerable Radeon HD 5770 to output to three monitors (1 DP, 2 DVI). Since my nephew often plays on my gaming computer (a completely different setup), I installed Steam over at the work computer to test what it can handle. As expected, a game...

Question Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown

UPDATE: And yet again, it seems my computer has gotten over its "period" and is working stably again. Countdown to the next few months before some sneaky hardware causes the unseen blue screen again.

Question Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown

My gaming computer is a (mostly) venerable set of hardware operating since 2012. Windows 7 HP ASUS P8277-V motherboard Intel Core i7 3770 2x 8GB Kingston HyperX Savage RAM Originally had a Radeon GPU but eventually upgraded to NVIDIA GTX 970 near the end of 2015; the old GPU simply could not...

[SOLVED] 8 years old Seagate Barracuda, 42°, Good condition

Oh yes if the data is critical, absolutely must backup regardless of drive condition to another drive/location. For my work computer all system and data drives are backed up daily. Whenever one of my disks eventually dies off, its a simple (albeit long) matter of restorating disk/partition image...

Question NVMe SSD enclosure very hot

I'm just using a generic cheapo enclosure; bought off AliExpress.

Question NVMe SSD enclosure very hot

Just came across this article on SSD thermal pads that corroborates the extra heat output from NVMe models. https://www.anandtech.com/show/11139/silverstone-launches-thermal-pads-for-m2-ssds My enclosure also comes with thermal pads, but, is there any practical point? The casing is already so...

[SOLVED] 8 years old Seagate Barracuda, 42°, Good condition

If there are problems with it, you'd see more than enough errors entered into the System event log to warn you of gradual deterioration. Unlike SSDs, hard disks rarely just die suddenly.

Question NVMe SSD enclosure very hot

Since I can't get a reading from HWMonitor, I tried a simple physical reader and its around 40°C. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AoTCPqdqt9-2idQ1hY7TM6luIaPe6w But boy does it feel a lot hotter than my other external SSD (which registers itself at 46°C!)

Question NVMe SSD enclosure very hot

Well strangely HWMonitor can read temperature of my desktop mSATA SSD; but when I run HWMonitor on my laptop - where the 2280 enclosure is connected to - drives only report space utilisation and no temperature. View: https://imgur.com/a/vstPJO8 Don't know if its the laptop mainboard or...

Question NVMe SSD enclosure very hot

For years I've been using a 2242 mSATA SSD in an enclosure as an external drive. Mostly idle, it merely feels warm. Recently I acquired a ThinkPad T480 which came with an Intel 256GB 2280 NVMe SSD, which I promptly removed to attach a Transcend 512GB model in its place. Naturally, the Intel SSD...

Question Intel Rapid Storage Technology - Windows 10 INACCESSIBLE BOOT DEVICE

My system boot drive is an SSD (Samsung 840 EVO), plus another secondary drive for more programs (Intel SSDSC2CW240A). With the exception of another mSATA SSD connected via USB, the rest are hard disks (multiple internal and external). So the IRST feature in the BIOS isn't the same as Intel's...

Question SMART - Current Pending Sector Count

Yes experience has taught me to perform daily whole-partition backups on a daily basis. I've already bought a new 2TB disk over the weekend to restore partitions (also from another Seagate disk) to. Restoration is easy, but takes heck of a long time. In fact experience has also taught me not to...

Question SMART - Current Pending Sector Count

I just completed a 2-pass zeroing format with format.exe, and now CrystalDiskInfo does not complain anymore. Bad sector will probably come back again though...
