News Intel's new CEO warns employees about 'tough decisions', but Wall Street cheers

I am afraid this is the beginning of the end for Intel. Which will result in very interesting situations for the PC world. We might see PC's run on a completely different architecture and Operating System in 5 years from now.

News Intel appoints Lip-Bu Tan as permanent CEO

My concern: "Lip-Bu Tan is a well-known investment businessman." I don't think they need investments, I think they need direction and a future roadmap. To me this guy sounds like someone who would sell of what is sellable to the highest bidder.

News UserBenchmark bashes AMD GPUs and claims they lack real-world performance

AMD should use a small percentage of their profits and sue that site for slander and put them out of business. It's one thing to not like a Company and it's products, it's a different thing to continually make falls and misleading statements about a Company and it's product(s).

News Nvidia enjoys $130B annual earnings despite gaming segment 'supply constraints

Unfortunately it does not work like that. Investors will want to see increases with each quarter. Just look at Apple and how they have to do better each quarter because investors want it that way.

When you fly high, you will crash hard someday. They cannot sustain these numbers.

News Some RTX 5090s are shipping with missing ROP units, leading to less gaming performance: Report

Interesting. Now you cannot trust anymore what you buy and have to analyze it yourself. I bet in the future they will add a disclaimer along the lines of "up to 10,000 ROP's" A bit like LCD/OLED panels, where we often still have language that allows stuck/dead pixels to be ok as long as they...

News Microsoft CEO says there is an 'overbuild' of AI systems, dismisses AGI milestones as show of progress

Then nobody would have money to purchase any products and the world will come to a standstill. This is all mostly about cost cutting, not about improving human life.

News Microsoft CEO says there is an 'overbuild' of AI systems, dismisses AGI milestones as show of progress

He must mean like the growth of Microsoft over the years has allowed prices to come down for products like Windows, Office etc... Yes, I understand now.

News 12VHPWR adapters sporting heatsinks and thermal pads show how problematic the connector is

I will skip these and wait on the liquid cooled version of this connector, with 240 mm radiator and RGB fans.

News Nvidia's RTX 5090 power cables may be doomed to burn

That is because they are not actually resistors, but shunts. They have a very low resistance and therefore a very low voltage drop in relationship to the current flowing through them. In the old days they were used to directly drive volt and amp gauges, often using a signal that would produce...

News RTX 5090 cable overheats to 150 degrees Celsius — Uneven current distribution likely the culprit

Never use multiple cables to feed power to a device, unless you have current sensing devices in line with each individual feeder. If they had that, none of these issues would exist regardless of connector type. They simply are cheap and want to save money...

News DeepSeek's AI breakthrough bypasses industry-standard CUDA, uses assembly-like PTX programming instead

I would not mind going back, going to the library to search indexes and retrieve the physical books. Because I went to school prior to calculators being wide spread, I can calculate many things in my head where the current generation has no clue. Sometimes those old skills come in handy...

Review Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 Founders Edition review: Incremental gains over the previous generation

Looks like next generation AMD cards might not be a bad deal. They have a good price margin based on the RTX5000 series pricing, so lot's of opportunity to undercut Nvidia. And I think this time around AMD will be able to sell their next generation cards cheaper without having to admit they also...
