Well thats what im asking the psu i just bought is a standard 600w psu and the one in the hp is proprietary. It powers the the mobo and psu from separate 4 pin connectors. Would the standard psu be able to replace the proprietary one? After a resounding no about 2 psus i was hoping i could use...

So its 4 pin mobo power part of the standard? It has a 4pim for cpu power then another 4 pin for mobo power.

How high would the risk be? I mean It seems that a few people use to do it before 2017 and then after that no one did.
