So I currently have a GTX 980 and 3 screens. Two of them are 1080p and the third is 4k. Right now when I am playing a game, my fps with the other two monitors plugged in is lower, the heat of the card is higher, and alt+tabbing is slow at times. Sometimes I unplug the other two for performance...

I currently have two monitors. On the right I have a 1080p 144hz monitor and on the left I have a 4k 60hz monitor. For competitive games I prefer to use the 144hz monitor, but for other games I like to use the 4k. Right now I have been switching the primary screen, but this is very annoying...
