Quick update, jumping the CMOS reset pins directly made the PC start up normally again, with the new card. Thanks for all your inputs. The problem no longer exists, hopefully. And as for the first crash, I think my CPU got too hot. Really old thermal paste, I guess. Also my CPU runs at 4.5 GHz...

I can update the BIOS manually if I want, by just plugging in the old GPU. I'll try messing with the power supply to see if it's the root cause.

my (still) temporary fix is to use power saving when I'm not gaming. another temporary fix is to go into the bios to change the multiplier to 37 so it won't cross 3.7ghz and temps remain relatively cooler

This didn't happen to my old Ryzen 3, and there are the same applications running before and after.

Did you check your temps while/before running the game? I've heard of PCs force restart when temps are too high.

I mean in the 512 gb SSD. Will the restored image divide the SSD into 2 partitions when I'm done restoring?
