I'm in need of a daily runner £400 laptop preferably smaller (13 inch) for Uni work. I'm a chemist so my workload is very excel and word/ pdf heavy, alongside a lot of chrome tabs. No gaming required, I have a rig for that :).

Just to make it clear, I'm not sure we have explained this, your son's PC has two hard drives. One small but really fast (SSD) for anything you want loading fast and one slow but large capacity (2TB HDD). When you look at 'this pc' in windows you should see both.

If you think you would have a better experience then do it, right now that system should still be playing games really well. Just keep in mind that you will need to upgrade the mobo too
