    Question Damaged CPU?

Following up. It was a damaged pin on the CPU. Managed to find a new one...popped it in and fired right up. It is alive! Interesting new challenge though...all four cores are running at/near 100% according to my core clocker desktop gadget. Stepped down from an AMD Phenom II X4 to 970 to a...

    Question Damaged CPU?

It had been so long since I removed the fan & heatsink, I forgot all about the twist-it-first trick. All the pins are perfectly straight now, but perhaps I did something internal to the CPU while straightening them. I’ll find a used chip that fits in an AM3 socket, and give it a go. Cheers!

    Question Damaged CPU?

My CPU fan died, so I bought/installed a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo v2. I wasn’t careful enough when removing the old fan/heatsink and the CPU came off with it. Bent a couple of pins but got them straightened out. Cleaned the thermal compound and applied a new coating. Everything went back...

Is it possible to run an SSD in AHCI and RAID 0 array on an M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3?

I'd like to run Win7/64B on a Samsung 840Pro SSD and 2x 3TB HDs in a RAID 0 array on an ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 motherboard. I've tried every BIOS setting I can think of, but can't get the system to recognize the SSD. I've bench checked the SSD on another computer, so I know it's good. If...

Samsung SSD 840 Pro Not Detected

At this point...I hope it's dead. If not, I'm looking at additional troubleshooting to try and figure out why my mobo isn't recognizing the drive. Thanks for the assist.

Samsung SSD 840 Pro Not Detected

The drive is new...bought from Amazon. Think my best bet is to take it to a shop to verify it's functional. If not, I can ship back to Amazon or go the warranty route. Many thanks fellas.

Samsung SSD 840 Pro Not Detected

Also, my normal config is SATA ports 1-4 set to RAID with a RAID 1 array and ports 5-6 set for IDE with an optical drive on port 6. I tried adding the SSD on port 5 in that config...no joy.

Samsung SSD 840 Pro Not Detected

Yes, I tried setting all ports to IDE...and yes, both the data and power cables are plugged in. I don't have the ability to try it in another computer. The only thing I could do is buy a SATA to USB adapter and try to get another computer to recognize it as an external drive. At least then...

Samsung SSD 840 Pro Not Detected

Volcanoscout -- Thanks for the quick response. I've done all that...multiple times actually. Removed all other drives (except the optical on SATA port 6), plugged the SSD into SATA 1 (selected AHCI for SATA ports 1-4 and IDE for 5-6), entered BIOS, selected optical drive to boot first. The...

Samsung SSD 840 Pro Not Detected

I have an ASUSM488TD-V EVO/USB3 MB and I'm attempting to install a Samsung SSD 840 Pro to drive my OS (It'll be a clean install). The drive is not recognized in the MB bios (AHCI selected & drive installed on Sata port #1), and Windows 7 64-bit won't recognize the drive during the install...
