I had the same issue a while back. Try going into windows safemode. If the monitor works fine after getting into safemode, it means that the drivers aren't compatible with your monitor or the drivers don't support your monitor. I'm not sure what it is, but I would recommend getting a newer monitor.

Hey, so I have an Asrock 970 Pro3 R2.0 motherboard with a FX-4100. The power supply is a SolidGear SDGR-500BX. Now my question is, since there is only a 4pin cpu connector with the power supply, and the motherboard has a 8 pin connector. Is it alright to plug the 4pin in to the 8pin?
