More im looking arounds, im thinking it very well may be that the 2 power supplies have separate ground paths. It's the same issue across 4 different supplies. So it's either a common problem with the power, or the cards at fault. I should put the card in a different pc to confirm it's working...

I tried that too, but no luck. I found a sata to 8pin adapter. But this means my overall power draw from the cpu & gpu could get to 275 watts, not a issue now that I bought the 300 watt brick, but the power lines that are used for the sata connection is tiny. I'd probably burn something out...
