Appreciate the help! Managed to get it out by unscrewing motherboard from case and after fidgeting a bit with it the retention clip finally went down and I was able to pull my card out. Cheers.

Meant heatsink sorry. Fan attaches to heatsink but mounting plate is stuck to the heatsink

I recently unscrewed my CPU fan/heatsink but the mounting adapter is stuck to my heatsink (shown in images). When I try to unscrew it the mounting adapter moves along with the screw and just hits the metal plate and can't move anymore. When I try with it mounted the screw doesn't budge.
